Love, Death, and God
EmotionalThat said, I’d like to talk about my recent obsession with Doctor Who. The weird thing about it is we’ve been watching this show for years. We’d started with the new series and also watched some random selection of episodes from the old stuff. It was my sisters who REALLY loved the show, I liked it well enough but... it just lacked something for me. Something that inspired me to do fanart, something that made me think and theorize all the live long day, something that I could just really really love. Just before the turning point these are the episodes we’d seen: (to give you an idea of what I knew about the series)
The 4 new seasons in their entirety (9th and 10th Doctors)
The Dalek Invasion of Earth (1st Doctor)
Tomb of the Cybermen (2nd Doctor)
Genesis of the Daleks (4th Doctor)
Arc of Infinity (5th Doctor)
The Awakening (5th Doctor)
Frontios (5th Doctor)
Remembrance of the Daleks (7th Doctor)
(these aren’t in order of when we saw them because I cannot remember which one came before which very well.)
It was at this point that we rented Castrovalva. I found something that inspires me, makes me think and theorize, and that I really love. Well, someone actually: Adric.
We went back and watched all the episodes with him....and therefore Earthshock at the end. That was the saddest story I have ever seen. The symbolism with his badge...and the scene at the end were heartbreaking. There’s isn’t much I can say about it. ...Except that it certainly does have love, death, and God.
Adric is just such a loveable, believable character and... I think it’s pretty clear what the watcher told him in Logopolis.
On another note, it seems I will definitely need surgery to fix my deformed feet. I’d be happy to leave well enough alone, but it’s not up to me at this point. (Watching so much Monkey Island right before this did NOT help XD )
I’d like to invite everyone to, if you find a picture you think I’d like, by all means tell me about it or link me to it! I’m not allowed to do searches on this site ( for VERY good reasons) so I don’t see alot of the good art that I should see. so if you see something that fits my one of my fandoms, is a photo of an interesting road or pathway, (don’t ask. XD ) or is just dang good, don’t hesitate to let me know! I love getting messages!
