Literature Text

I am the Sentinel
I stand watching in the rain.
I come to be the witness
To your loss and to your gain.
No one knows just who I am,
Or why I came to be.
They'll know the man that I'll become,
But you'll remember me.

Gone, gone, the yarns of old
Unraveled in the fall
Remember these, your family
For you must leave them all.

I've come to make him live again.
His falling I foresee.
Your fate he won't remember
Because he won't be me.
But carry this your burden
Though you carry it alone.
Only those who spoke with me
Can know what you have known.

Gone, gone, the yarns of old
Unraveled in the fall
Remember these, your family
For you must leave them all.

I know that they will miss you
And I see that she won't know
Just how much you loved her
Before you had to go.
My eyes are very weary
And my hearts are very sad,
But it's not my place to speak
Of the life you might've had.

Gone, gone, the yarns of old
Unraveled in the fall
Remember these, your family
For you must leave them all.

So don't forget my words
As I tell them to you now.
I will be him at that point
Though do not ask me how.
He may not know beforehand
As I, and now you, do
But I am he, and so I know
That he'll be crying too.

Gone, gone, the yarns of old
Unraveled in the fall
Remember these, your family
For you must leave them all.

So journey well, my faithful friend
And do not be afraid.
A door will open to your Home
A pathway will be made.
We started out together
But you must go alone
For only those whose trip is done
Can know what you have known.

Gone, gone, the yarns of old
Unraveled in the fall
Remember, you may leave us, but
We're with you after all.
This really weird thing I thought up last night and had to write down or I couldn't sleep.

Fan poem for Doctor Who (of which I seem to do a lot) from the Watcher's point of view.
Spoiler
It is based upon my belief that while outside time and space in the tardis, the conversation the watcher had with Adric that we never learn the content of concerned Adric's future.
I believe the Watcher told him he was going to die.
The deep solemnity of that scene and the way Adric acts after speaking with the Watcher... This is what I think.
And it makes Adric all the braver.
End of spoiler

Anyways, like I've said before, poetry is not my strong point, and I didn't have anyone preview this before I put it up, so it may be on the lame side. If you find any grammar mistakes please tell me.

I thought this was only appropriate for All Souls Day.

That...was possibly the most touching poem I have ever read.

I don't know *what* you're talking about when you say poetry is not your strong point.

I especially like the chorus (though it took me a minute to realise that it was a reference to the scarf in the next serial).

Keep up the good work!
